  • Have a well developed resume.
  • Review the list of career fair participants available prior to the event.
  • Take at least 30 copies of your completed resume with you to the event. Store in a folder to keep them nice.  Have a notepad with you, pens etc.
  • Use a strong, firm handshake when introducing yourself.  Be assertive without being pushy.
  • Develop your 30 second commercial that informs the recruiter about you.
  • Pick up literature from each employer table to take home and review later.
  • Ask for a business card to contact that person later by phone.
  • Ask what happens next in the hiring process.  Express appreciation for the employer's time in talking with you. Follow up within a week or two with contacts made or with persons referred to you by the organization representatives attending.
  • Usually employers at job fairs are recruiting candidates for specific positions that they have the greatest need to fill.  You need to remember that all organizations have a variety of jobs that can be filled by an individual from a variety of majors.
