Immerse yourself in Roman history, art, language, traditions, and culture for eight weeks while residing at Walsh's beautiful Castel Gandolfo campus.

 

Dates: August 14 - October 9, 2010

 

Program Cost: Pay your usual tuition and fees, room and board with all financial aid applying! Additional costs include $1,000 program fee, airfare, and personal spending money.

Courses offered:
HUM 225 Art and Culture of Rome (T1, fulfills Art/Music requirement)

HUM 325 Rome: Stories and Traditions (H2b)

ITAL 101 or 102 Elementary Italian

THEO 314 Rome to Jerusalem: A clash of cultures (H2a)

 

Site Visits: Colosseum, Capitoline Museum, Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica, Palazzo Barberini, the Jewish Ghettoes of Rome, and Venice, Villa Borghese, Roman Forum, St. Domitilla Catacombs, the Appian Way, and Uffizi Museum. 

 

Weekend Excursions

3 days in Florence, 3 days in Naples/Sorrento, 3 days in Venice, and 4 weekends for your own planning!

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Successfully completed one semester at Walsh (12 credit hours)
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Good standing with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs

 

Students requesting an exception must follow these steps:

  • Write a formal letter to Dr. Mark Rogers, Director of International Learning, requesting an exception and explaining how the program will benefit the student academically and personally
  • Obtain a letter from the faculty advisor or another professor in support of the student’s participation and vouching for the student’s ability to complete the coursework

 

The Director of Global Learning will inform you if your exception has been granted.
