Devine Janet

As a faculty member and Director of Licensure, Accreditation, and Field Placements, Janet has served in various roles within the Division of Education since 2000.  Establishing community partnerships is something Janet has an interest in and she has launched seven partnerships with Career Paths for the Teaching Professions programs.  Currently, Janet is serving as the NCATE Coordinator for the division’s national accreditation effort.  Janet holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from the University of Akron and a Master of Arts in Education degree from Walsh University. 

 

Teaching

Janet teaches undergraduate courses that include ENG 110, Study Skills for freshmen students and the Clinical Practice Seminar for senior Education students.

 

Scholarship

Recent national presentations include the Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders Fall 2007 in Dallas Texas in with Gary Jacobs.  Ohio presentations include OCTEO in the Fall 2002 and in April 2007 with Jeannie DeFazio and Gary Jacobs and the Ohio Alignment Group in October 2007.  In the development stages is a joint presentation with colleagues from Antioch University and the University of Akron about collaboration and success in accreditation decisions.

 

Service

As the coordinator of the LEAD program, an acronym for Licensure in Education for Adults with Degrees, Janet advises adult students seeking initial teaching licenses.  Janet wrote and received Ohio Department of Education approval of four middle childhood endorsement programs and the value-added curriculum for the division.  Janet has served as chair of the Advance Standing Committee for seven years and a member of the University of Catholic Distinction Committee. Other community service includes serving as the current DARE Jackson Treasurer; recent past president of the Ohio Youth Ballet; and active volunteer in Jackson Local School District and in the community and her parish.
