Rome Experience

Program Fee (includes airfare, lodging, transportation, weekend excursions, meals, and site visits): $5500*

Courses Offered:

HUM 225  Art and Culture of Rome   (3 sem. hrs.)

Satisfies Tier I Fine Arts requirement

Surveys the art and culture of Rome from ancient to contemporary periods. The course examines many aspects of artistic and cultural expression, but focuses especially on visual arts, architecture and music.

 HUM 325 Rome: Stories and Traditions  (3 sem. hrs.)

Satisfies Tier II Heritage 2b requirement 

The course examines the place of Rome in western history, literature and legend through an interdisciplinary approach. The course surveys Rome’s place as the center of Western imagination by reading the words and following in the footsteps of travelers, pilgrims and conquerors of Rome from ancient to modern times.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 21 credit hours earned at Walsh at the time of application
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Good social standing at the university

Exceptions to these criteria will be granted at the discretion of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. To request an exception:

  1. 1. Write a formal letter to Dr. Mark Rogers, Director of International Learning, requesting an exception and explaining how the program will benefit you academically and personally   -AND-
  2.  
  3. 2. Obtain a letter from your academic advisor or another faculty member, supporting your participation and vouching for your ability to complete the coursework successfully

Submit these letters to Dr. Mark Rogers no later than the application deadline (February 22). You will receive an e-mail from him if your exception is granted.

Application Deadline: February 22, 2008 - submit to International Programs & Services in Student Affairs with your $200 deposit

Payment Deadlines:

  • Application deposit ($200) due Feb. 22
  • First installment ($2650) due Mar. 21
  • Second installment ($2650) due Apr. 25
