Dr. Yiga is a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Education at the Walsh University Kisubi Brothers Centre of the Uganda Martyrs University. He attended the National Teachers’ College Kyambogo, receiving a Dip. Ed. He continued on for his Master’s degree at the State University of New York – Platsburgh. His Ph.D. is from Makerere University. His thesis was entitled “Value Judgment Applied to Jan Vermeer’s Painting during the Baroque Era.” Dr. Yiga comes to Walsh with exceptional experience through international study tours, leadership workshops,

Teaching
Dr. Yiga is a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor. He has conducted various post-graduate research seminars, lectures in graduate and undergraduate research methodologies, and instruction regarding graphic design and fine arts. He is currently a Clinical Supervisor for graduate students.
Scholarship
Dr. Yiga has presented at various regional, national, and international conferences. His work has been featured in various periodicals and 2 books. He has published a research methodologies kit, and 2 history of art in western culture texts. His artistic work is on display and part of various collections including the Swedish Institute of Art Society, the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Arts, and in Paris, France. Dr. Yoga’s current research addresses women artists in Uganda and work on developing student skills.
Service
Dr. Yiga has served on the NU High Degrees Committee, Makerere University Press Education Board, the Library Committee Senate at Makerere University, Senate and Ad-Hoc Committee on Standardization of semester/credit unit systems; he is a board member of the Makerere University Department of Architecture School of Industrial and Fine Arts at Makerere University, and the MTSIFA Gallery Committee. Dr. Yiga has served as a chief architect for various policies—including regulations and structure formulation for undergraduate and graduate programs.
