After winning three out of their first four American Mideast Conference North Division games, Walsh (9-15, 4-4 AMC N) dropped three out of four conference games to Malone last week.  This week, the Cavs host Tiffin University (DH) on Tuesday, play at Geneva College (AMC N-DH) on Thursday and host Geneva (AMC N-DH) on Saturday.

Walsh and Malone split an AMC North Division double header by identical 12-2 scores last Thursday.  Each game was five innings.  Malone scored four runs in the first inning of game one, then added seven runs in the fifth inning.  Kyle Lynn (Jr., Massillon, OH/Tuslaw HS) started for the Cavs and lasted into the fifth inning and suffered the loss.  Lynn is 2-3 on the season.  Walsh turned the tables on the Pioneers in the nightcap, scoring five runs in the second, three in the fourth and four in the fifth.  Shortstop Chad Campbell singled twice and drove in four runs.  Duane Kaley (Sr., Deerfield, OH/Southeast), Derek Gordon (Jr., Brampton, ONT/Centennial) and Andy Scritchfield (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) drove in two runs each for the Cavs.  Gordon had a double and Scritchfield had three singles.  Andy Schon (Jr., Akron, OH/Coventry) went the distance for the Cavs, allowing five hits, to improve to 3-1.  Walsh then lost twice at Malone, 2-1 and 10-6 on Saturday.  Ed Bartolec (Sr., Poland, OH/Cardinal Mooney) was the tough luck loser in game one.  Ryan Indorf (So., Massillon, OH/HS) drove in the Cavs only run.  Alan Frame (So., Atwater, OH/Waterloo) was the losing pitcher in the night cap.  The Cavs led 3-0, but lost the lead and the game when the Pioneers exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Walsh then lost its third straight game, falling 16-6 to Baldwin-Wallace College in a non-conference game on Sunday.  Mike Dougherty (Fr., Canton, OH/McKinley) was the starting pitcher for the Cavs and was charged with the loss.  Matt Marshall (So., New Boston, OH/Glenwood) had three hits, including a double for the Cavs.  Ben Botbyl (Sr., Willard, OH/HS) hit a solo homerun and drove in two runs and Rob Matsui (Jr., Thornhill, ONT/Vaughn) also homered.
