Mario Giganti ('94)

Mario Giganti ('94) (Cleveland St. Edwards HS) lettered four-times for the Cavs' soccer team at midfield. Giganti was a mainstay on and off the field and played a major role on Walsh's only NAIA National Qualifying team in 1993. Giganti earned first team Mid-Ohio Conference and All-District 22 accolades in 1992. In 1993, Walsh finished 21-4 and won the District 22 title to advance to the National Tournament for the first time, with Giganti leading the way. After switching from to midfield to defender, Giganti was named first team Mid-Ohio, All-District 22, All-Mideast, All-Ohio, Area VI and was named Mid-Ohio Conference and District 22 Player of the Year. On a national level, he was named third team NAIA All-America, second team Umbro All-America and played in the Umbro Senior Bowl. He was also selected as Walsh's Male Athlete of the Year and earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete and All-Ohio Academic honors with a 3.62 grade point average.
