"Cavs Go Unbeaten at Home"

The Walsh University junior varsity men's basketball team defeated Tiffin 74-70 to close out the home schedule for the 2011-2012 year. The Cavs (10-3) finished the season 7-0 at home.

It was a close game throughout as the Dragons led at halftime by two points 37-35. Both teams battled back and forth for the second half until Walsh took the lead for good at 71-70 with 42 seconds left. Four players scored in double figures, led by Nikola Knezevic’s 19, Kyle Arnold with 18, Marzell Brooks 11, and Cody Welker with 10. The JV Cavs' final game is Monday Feb. 6 at Lorain County Community College.

"Cavs hit Buzzer-Beater to Beat Malone"

The Walsh junior varsity men's basketball team fell to Mt. Union by a count of 86-66 on Sunday. It was the Cavaliers first loss of the season as they dropped to 4-1. Kyle Arnold paced the Cavs with 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Zach Mozden added 12 points and four assists. Marzell Brooks scored 11 points, all of which came in the second half. Brooks also pulled down seven boards, made seven assists, and four steals. John Rice also tallied 11 points and pulled down five rebounds. Cody Welker scored nine points and five rebounds. The Cavs were down 43-30 at the half.

On Wednesday, the Cavaliers beat the rival Malone Pioneers to improve to 5-1. Walsh led 38-37 at halftime. The Cavs went up by as many as 10 in the second half. Down one with 45 seconds to go, Cody Welker hit a three-pointer to put Walsh up by two. Malone answered with a basket to tie the game with 16 seconds to go. Arnold then made the game-winning shot with .3 seconds left for the victory. He finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Welker also had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cavs are back in action today at Wooster.

The Walsh Cavaliers (3-0) escaped with an 85-81 victory over visiting Notre Dame College on Sunday afternoon in JV action. The game was tied 41-41 at halftime and the Falcons held a four-point advantage with two minutes left in the game before Walsh came back to prevail. All five starters scored double digits. Kyle Arnold led the way with 29 points. He was aided by Zach Mozden with 18 points, Cody Welker with 14, John Rice with 12, and Marzell Brooks with 10. The Cavs are back in action on the road against KSU-Tusc on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

"Cavs Best Malone 91-68"

The Cavaliers defeated Malone by a score of 91-68 in JV action Wednesday night. Walsh was led by Zach Mozden and Kyle Arnold with 23 points each. Marzell Brooks and Cody Welker also reached double figures. The Cavs led by nine at half before Malone cut it to three with 17:48 left in the second half when Coach Boldon called a timeout. From that point on Walsh outscored the Pioneers 54-34 over the final 17 minutes.

"Cavs JV Downs Kent State Tusc"

The Walsh JV men's basketball team beat Kent State Tusc on Friday by a score of 72-59. The Cavs had a 36-26 halftime lead and had four guys in double figures. Cody Welker led the team with 19 points. Zach Mozden was second with 17 points. Kyle Arnold tallied 13 markers and Kevin Outly had 11. We play again at home against Malone at 7:30 p.m.
