DeVille School of Business Mentoring Program
Walsh University's DeVille School of Business offers a mentoring program in which students with a sophomore, junior or senior standing are paired with professional mentors from the business community. Mentors may provide counseling, instruction, motivation, or a friendship role. Mentoring not only provides a learning experience but also may boost a student's problem-solving and leadership skills. Mentoring within the DeVille School of Business is extremely important to aid students in learning and preparation beyond academics for the business environment.
The mission of the program is to enhance the academic learning process by offering students the opportunity to gain working knowledge and understanding of business practices from seasoned professionals from within the business environment.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Prepare students to enter the workforce by increasing the student's awareness of business requirements versus student expectations.
- Understand the relationship between academic learning and actual business practices.
- Understand career opportunities and additional requirements beyond academic for different professions within the business environment.
- Identify and differentiate between skill and position requirements.
Mentor candidates for the program may be selected from Walsh alumni, Walsh adjunct instructors, and or business professionals currently or recently retired from the business environment.
