The role of a liberal arts institution is to provide each student with the general knowledge necessary to function within an eclectic society. The Department of Music provides elective classes and performing opportunities that  present each student with knowlege integral to a well-rounded individual.

The department also serves the university by supplying ensembles that perform at the wide variety of functions held throughout the academic year. A minor is available to those students whose interests include a more in depth education in the musical arts.

As a university whose mission is to supply a values-based education with an international perspective in the Judeo-Christian tradition, the Walsh Music Department helps foster personal, professional and cultural development by providing students with knowledge of the artistic endeavors of cultures throughout the world.
