Walsh Appoints Manager of Athletic Affairs

Mark Heffernan named to position

Walsh University recently announced the appointment of Mark Heffernan as Manager of Athletic Affairs.

In this newly-created position, Heffernan’s responsibilities will include supervision of game day operations, athletic facilities management, promotions, marketing, ticket sales and developing a plan to televise a number of Walsh Cavalier football and basketball games on a state-wide cable television outlet.

Before joining Walsh University, Heffernan was the Director of Corporate & Team Sales for Academy Uniforms & Promotions in North Canton.

Mark also served two tenures with the Cleveland Cavaliers (1989-1995/1999-2003) as Director of Game Day Entertainment and Video Production. While with the CAVS he earned back-to-back Regional Emmy Awards as Executive Producer of “CAVS Fastbreak”.

Between his stints with the CAVS, Mark served as a writer/producer for FOX-8 in Cleveland receiving his third Emmy Award for “The Sunday Sportspage” and Classic Worldwide Productions in Broadview Heights where he was recognized numerous times for outstanding achievement in the video production industry.

In 1999 Mark conceived, produced, and directed the music video “Here We Go Again” for the Cleveland Browns and was recognized by Cleveland Magazine as one of the city’s Most Interesting People.

He earned a BA in Secondary Art Education/Theatre Minor from Wilmington College of Ohio in 1982, and in 2009 was inducted into the St. Peter Chanel High School Hall of Fame.

Heffernan and his wife Amy, a fourth grade teacher at Miller South School for the Visual & Performing Arts in Akron, make their home in Copley and have two children, daughter Hallie and son Spencer.
