Writing Center E-mail Tutoring Directions

Students

  • Save your paper as a Word document.
  • Choose one writing tutor for e-mail tutoring.

Refer to a Writing Center Schedule posted around campus or located in the Writing Center, FH 209.

  • Open up your e-mail account.
  • Send the writing tutor:
  • Your first and last name
  • The name of the course: English 101 (example)
  • The name of your professor
  • The purpose and directions of the assignment
  • A list of the areas you want the writing tutor to address: thesis statement, idea development, organization, introduction or conclusion, research and documentation, or individual points of grammar
  • Attach your paper to your e-mail message.
  • Give the writing tutor forty-eight (48) hours.
  • Open up the attached commented draft of your paper in your e-mail.
  • Save it in Microsoft Word.
  • Close out of your e-mail account.
  • Open up Microsoft Word and access your paper.
  • Run the cursor over the areas where there is the highlighted comment icon.  The tutor's comments will appear.
