University Procedures for Grant Application

Preparing a grant proposal for submission is a fairly simple process:

  • Clarify your idea

What are you going to do?  Why are you going to do it? How much do you estimate it will cost? The answers to these questions will be refined as you work on your proposal, but these initial ideas will help you build your case for support.

  • Complete the grant proposal authorization form

The grant proposal authorization form ensures that the administration supports your project and gives the Grants Office permission to assist you. Because a grant is an agreement between the funding source and Walsh, grant requests may not be submitted from the University without securing the appropriate approvals prior to the grant being written. This simple, one-page form asks you to describe what you are going to do, estimate how much you think it will cost, and secure the signatures of your immediate supervisor and the vice president in charge of your division (if different from your supervisor).

  • Bring the grant authorization form to the Grants Office to begin work on your grant
