Professor William Zumbar was recently presented the Outstanding Judge Award of the Buckeye District of the American Rose Society. Dr. James Hering, president-elect of the American Rose Society, said, "Bill has conscientiously served the Buckeye District as a credentialed specimen judge, Consulting Rosarian, past president of the Stark Rose Society of Canton, instructor for rose judges' clinics, exhibitor and contributor of published articles. We are presenting this major award to him for his meritorious service as judge in the many rose shows held annually in the state of Ohio."

Most recently, as Chairman of Judges for the Carnation City Annual Festival in Alliance, Zumbar introduced the "English Box" method of flower display to area gardeners.
