Resident Assistant Training

It’s All About Building Team!

Resident Assistants are required to complete two seminar sessions during the Spring semester as well as a two week intensive training course before the onset of the Fall semester.  The Resident Assistant staff is trained in a number of areas concerning campus life, including:

·         teamwork

·         community building

·         roommate conflicts

·         confrontation skills

·         crisis management

·         fire safety

·         programming

·         self management

·         diversity and cultural awareness

·         drug and alcohol education

·         nightly duty rounds

·         maintenance and facility issues

We strive to train our RA team in a way to help our resident's work through their problems.  Our philosophy is based upon empowering our staff members to help students develop the confidence to communicate effectively, solve problems competently, think critically and act responsibly.   The Residence Life staff is committed to providing the best possible services to our residents and creating an environment conducive to learning.
