Division to Become a School of Business
Dr. Ronald G. Fountain Named New Dean

NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Walsh University is proud to announce that the current Division of Business, Economics and Communication will become a comprehensive School of Business this fall.The development of a formal “school” is the natural progression for the growing business division and will provide new opportunities to further expand on the University’s commitment to service learning, with the potential for increased partnerships with the local business community.

“Establishment of the new school is another major step in the continuing evolution of our campus,” said Walsh University President Richard Jusseaume. “The expanded curriculum will provide students with integrated instruction across disciplines and real-world business experience, while extending our academic offerings to better meet the needs of our students and our local business community.”

The new school will formally accept its charter class in fall 2008 and will include undergraduate and graduate MBA fields of study.

As a part of the transition, Dr. Ronald G. Fountain has been named Dean and Dr. Carole Mount has been named Assistant Dean of Accreditation, Assessment and Curriculum of the new School of Business.

Dr. Fountain joined Walsh in 2003 as a Professor and MBA Coordinator of the Medina Campus and is currently the Managing Partner at Capital Acceleration Partners, LLC in Cleveland, OH.For the past twelve years, he has served in various roles at Case Western Reserve University’s prestigious Weatherhead School of Management, including Adjunct Professor of Finance & Action Learning and Faculty Director. Dr. Fountain has a 47-year career as a finance executive and entrepreneur. He is a Weatherhead alumnus of the EDM, EMBA and Professional Fellows Programs.  He will assume his post beginning July 1, 2008.

The current Division of Business and Economics Chair, Dr. Carole Mount, will assume the new role of Assistant Dean of Accreditation, Assessment and Curriculum for the School of Business.She joined Walsh in 1987 and has served as Chair of the Division of Business, Economics and Communication for the past 11 years.

The University has already started the procedure for accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).During the accreditation process, Walsh University will be visited and evaluated by business school deans with detailed knowledge of management education, applying accreditation standards that are widely accepted in the educational community. AACSB International is the longest serving and largest global accrediting body for business schools.
