Assistant Coach Sherry Bossart

Sherry Bossart remains on the staff as an assistant after serving 31 years as the men’s head coach and 26 years as the women’s head coach. She ended her illustrious head coaching career on top as she guided the men to a 17-4 record and the women to a 15-5 five record with both teams winning the Ohio Independent Championship. Bossart has compiled 620 career coaching wins and has coached countless scholar-athletes.

Bossart built the women’s program into an Ohio NAIA dynasty in the 1990s. The Cavs won five consecutive conference titles and made five-straight trips to the national tournament. Her women’s career mark ends with a 270-171 record. She directed the men’s team to 15 conference titles in 17 years and 11 national tournament appearances in a span of 15 years. Her men’s career mark ends with a 350-180 record.

She was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and has worked countless hours to make tennis a sport to be recognized in Stark County. She has also worked as a tennis instructor at the Village Racquet Club and the Hall of Fame Tennis Center in Canton. She has won past women’s and mixed doubles championships at the Canton City Tournament and the North Canton Tennis Tournament. Sherry also helped establish the Greater Stark County Tennis Association and served as president from 1992 to 1994.

Sherry and her husband Danny, one of the University’s most visible supporters, reside in Canton.
