James Shauntey



 

 Dr. Shauntey James, Assistant Professor, Sociology

Dr. James joined the Walsh faculty in 2002. She is originally from outside of Philadelphia, PA. Because of her background, she focuses on the textbook knowledge combined with a strong experimental component in the classroom. She has also taught at the University of Dayton.

Dr. James has a B.S. in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, an M.A. in sociology from Western Michigan University. She specializes in criminology, criminal justice and feminist theory. Other areas of interest include black feminist theory, minority groups and juvenile justice. Her research specifically explores female homicide offenders and sexual assault. Her experimental background includes working in correctional facilities, victim advocacy, and working with sexual offenders both adult and juvenile.

Dr. James has presented her work on the local and national levels. Off campus, she focused on spending time with her family and friends and truly enjoying life.
