Connie Smith is an Adjunct Professor and Coordinator of the Theology - Education Hispanic Outreach Initiative at Walsh University. She has been with the Division of Education since 2007. Professor Smith has served as a teacher and administrator in both public and private education. She has experience in teaching higher education courses, as well as being a gradeschool/middle school teacher and elementary school principal. She hold a M.S. from Ashland University, as well as certification in Elementary and Middle School Administration. Her B.S. in English Education (MCE) from Kent State University.

- Teaching
- Professor Smith teaches undergraduate Early Childhood Education Courses in the Division of Education. Her fall classes include ECE210 (Introduction to Early Childhood), ECE211 (Growth, Assessment and Development), and EDUC255 (Cognitive and Language Development). She has also taught communciations and speech courses. Professor Smith is an advisor for both Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist majors.

- Scholarship
- Professor Smith's research interests include providing academic opporunties and support to local families and community members in impoverished environments. This addresses second language learners, early language learners, low-socio economic status families, and diverse populations. She is preparing presentations/publications for upcoming conferences on English as a Second Language.

- Service
- Professor Smith volunteers for regional parishes, and local schools. Working closely with Msgr. Lew Gaetano, she is developing and coordinating the Theology - Education Hispanic Outreach Initiative at Walsh University, which matches our teacher candidates with at-risk/impoverished Latino students in the area. Professor Smith is also a board member and Ambassador for the Stark County Early Childhood Resource Center in Canton, Ohio.
