“Cavs’ Softball Signs Two”

Walsh University Head Softball Coach Jaime Porter has announced that Anna Anderson and Ashley Starr have committed to play for the Cavs and further their education at Walsh.  Walsh is currently in Candidacy Year Two for NCAA ll membership, and next year will play a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schedule.

Anderson has earned three letters for Wadsworth High School and will earn fourth this spring. She has played center field and has garnered three letters for Michelle DeAngelis and Mike Schmeltzer.  Anna has been first-team and second-team All-Suburban League after hitting .303 as a sophomore and .337 as a junior.  She has collected five career homeruns and has drive in 43 RBI, including 20 her junior year.  She has made only three errors in 82 games.  Anna is the daughter of Rob and Cathy Anderson and is a member of National Honor Society and has been a Suburban League Scholar-Athlete.

Starr will earn her fourth letter for Indian Creek High School and Head Coach Angela Penner.  She earned first-team All-Buckeye 8, OVAC 4A, Eastern District and All-Valley Team honors and second-team All-Ohio Division l.  Ashley was selected OVAC Player of the Year last year.  Starr pitched a perfect game as a freshman (2009), when she fashioned a 5-1 record with a 2.32 ERA. She was 14-7 as a sophomore and 13-5 last year.  She has also shined at the plate, hitting .390 as a freshman, .557 as a sophomore and .465 last year. Starr has 70 career RBI and five homeruns.  Ashley is the daughter of Tom and Lisa Starr and is the Vice-President of National Honor Society.
