Sources of Financial Aid

FEDERAL

• Federal Pell Grant
  A Federal Pell Grant is awarded to undergraduate students who have high financial need and have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree.  In the 2007-2008 school year, Pell Grants ranged anywhere from $400 - $4,310.
  
  
• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)
  Federal SEOG funds are given to undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Priority is given to students who receive a Federal Pell Grant.
  
  
• Federal Perkins Loan
  A Perkins Loans is a low-interest (5 percent) loan and is available to undergraduates at Walsh University with exceptional financial need.  You must begin repaying this loan nine months after you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time attendance.
  
  
• Federal Stafford Loan
  Stafford Loans are low interest loans available for both undergraduates and graduate students.  These loans have a fixed interest rate of 6.8%.  Repayment begins six months after you cease to attend on at least a half-time basis.  Half-time enrollment is six credit hours per semester for both undergraduates and graduate students at Walsh University. 
  
  
• Federal Plus Loans
  PLUS loans are federal loans that a parent takes out on a student's behalf.  

STATE AID

• Ohio Instructional Grant  or Ohio College Opportunity Grants are based on financial need and do not require repayment.  Application for this grant is made through the FAFSA.
  
  
• Ohio Student Choice Grant
  The Choice Grant is not a need-based grant.  There is no application required, but it is strongly suggested that the Walsh University for Financial Aid is completed and submitted to expedite processing of the grant.

INSTITUTIONAL AID

Funds awarded by Walsh University are generally merit-based and are determined by the scholarship committee in the Office of Admission. Scholarships can range between $2,000 up to the equivalent of full tuition. Notification of your merit scholarship eligibility is handled through the Office of Admission and will generally come before your financial aid award notice from the Financial Aid Office.

OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS
