Walsh Cavalier Football Student Manager Program

Job Description: A football student manager at Walsh University is required to work all practices, games, and training camps from August through November, plus work a three-week period in the spring semester. Student managers will assist the equipment manager with practice and game preparation for players and coaches. Each student manager is assigned to a coach that he/she will work with throughout the season. As a student manager, you are responsible for communicating with your respective coach to prepare for daily practices, getting all necessary equipment ready for practices/games, working at football practices/games, and laundry after each practice/game.

Academic Requirements: Maintain fulltime enrollment (12 credit hour minimum). Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA Qualify for Federal Work Study.

Fall Season: Report in August 1-2 weeks prior to the start of school to work preseason football practices Assist coaching staff, equipment manager, and trainer with organization and operation of all practices and games Maintain safe practice and game equipment weekly Prepare equipment for home and away games.

Spring Season: Work 11 practices during the three-week practice schedule. Maintain safe practice equipment weekly. Maintain and increase your knowledge of working with football equipment. Good football programs are highly organized. This starts in the equipment room and on the practice field. Our football equipment operation is first class and our team is outfitted to look good and to be safe. There is a great deal of pride in this area at Walsh. Our equipment manager, Stephen Kotema, and his student workers are a very important part of our success.
