About Walsh > Student Outreach Student OutreachThe Office of Service and Social Outreach, located in the David Campus Center, was established in the fall of 1999 as a vehicle for service in light of the Gospel and the social teaching of the Catholic Church. The department serves as a liaison between Walsh University students and the social services network of the Diocese of Youngstown and of Stark County. As a campus located in a residential area, Walsh strives to be a dedicated and committed community partner. Service and Social Outreach seeks to create and locate community outreach opportunities for Walsh students, faculty and staff. The Office of Service and Social Outreach is a part of Student Affairs under the Dean of Students. This organization allows for a good integration of community involvement with all of the student clubs and organizations. The mission of Service and Social Outreach is to provide students, faculty and staff with high quality volunteer opportunities that enable them to develop into intellectual, social, spiritual, and ethical citizens ready for leadership in today's world. The focus for community service is on meeting and addressing real community needs, especially as they pertain to the most vulnerable members in our community, and promoting social action in the public arena on behalf of social and economic justice in the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching.
