Summer Housing Walsh University Office of Residence Life
For Information about Summer Housing, please contact Rachel Hosler, Coordinator of Residential Adminstrative Services rhosler@walsh.edu. Policy Rationale The intention of this policy is to provide a housing environment in campus owned residence halls conducive to the academic mission of the University. Additionally, given the nature of our summer class schedule and the need of our students to procure summer employment for the entire summer, the policy permits students who have appropriate University-related business to reside on campus. Housing Fees
All students will be charged the same housing fee for summer housing options. Summer housing will be in Lemmon Hall since meal plans are not offered during the summer sessions and students would benefit from access to kitchen facilities. Double Occupancy Bedroom - $90.00 per week.
Double Occupancy Bedroom rate is reduced to $30.00 per week provided the student is working a minimum of 25 hours per week at an on-campus office (excluding the bookstore and Sodexho). Supporting documentation from on-campus employer must be submitted with application or e-mailed to Rachel Hosler, Coordinator of Residential Administrative Services at rhosler@walsh.edu. Housing Requirements · Students who enroll for summer classes (minimum of 3 credit hours per session) or who are employed at the University (minimum of 25 hours per week) may reside on campus through the last summer session. Students will need to leave their summer housing assignment after the last summer session so the residence hall may be prepared for academic year housing. Only students who live outside of a 50 mile radius to campus are eligible for housing accommodations. Students who live within 50 miles of the University will be given accommodations based upon availability. · Students who have “legitimate” internship assignments may reside on campus. Internships will be verified with letters from the appropriate academic department and the Office of Career Services. These letters must provide information that includes, but it not limited to, the beginning and ending dates of internship and the number of hours worked per week. · International students with short-term housing needs may be considered on an individual basis. Permission must be obtained through the Office of Residence Life · Students who enroll for classes but are not otherwise employed on campus may reside in campus housing ONLY during their session of enrollment. · Other situations may be approved by the Director of Residence Life · Summer students should understand that regular maintenance, repair and preparation of the rooms for the upcoming academic year may occur during the summer sessions while the student is in residence (for example, carpet cleaning, repairs of items damaged during the academic year, etc.). The Residence Life and Maintenance staff will notify students in advance of any maintenance or repairs that may cause an inconvenience so appropriate arrangements can be made. Minor repairs will be corrected by maintenance personnel under their current protocol, which does not require prior student notification. Discipline
Students who have a disciplinary status of “Probation” or higher may not be permitted to reside in campus housing during the summer. Students who infract on ANY housing policy while in session may be asked to vacate immediately. |
