Friday, May 2, 2008 NAIA Region IX Championship Match at North Canton, OH/North Canton Racquet Club "Ohio Dominican (13-4) Defeats Walsh University (9-10) 5-0 in Region Title Match" Top-seeded Ohio Dominican University (13-4) stopped Walsh's (9-10) bid for a return trip to the NAIA National Championships, with a 5-0 win in the NAIA Region IX Championship today at the North Canton Racquet Club. Jenamarie Ianni (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Lindsey Cady (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) each received All-American Mideast Conference honors in singles and doubles. DOUBLES 1. Friday, May 2, 2008 "Tennis Championships Moved Inside" The NAIA Region IX championship match between Walsh and Ohio Dominican University has been moved inside to the North Canton Raquet Club, witih a tenative starting time of 12:30 pm.
Thursday, May 1, 2008 "Walsh Downs Cedarville 8-1 to Advance to Region Title Match" Walsh (9-9) defeated Cedarville Univesity (9-6) 8-1 to advance to the NAIA Region IX Championship on Friday. The cavs host Ohio Dominican Universitiy (12-4) at 9 am, with the winner advancing to the NAIA National Tournament, May 12-16 in Mobile, AL. Ohio Dominican beat the Cavs 7-2 in the regular season. The Panthers reached the title match with a 9-0 win over Roberts WEsleyan University.

Monday, April 28, 2008 "Second Seeded Cavs Set to Defend NAIA Region IX Championship" A trip to the 28th Annual NAIA Championships is at stake, as Walsh (8-9, 6-1 AMC) prepares to host the NAIA Region IX Championships this Thursday and Friday. The second seeded Cavs meet Cedarville University (9-5, 5-2 AMC) at 1 pm on Thursday. Walsh beat the Yellow Jackets 6-3 in the regular season. Top seeded Ohio Dominican University (11-4, 7-0 AMC) meets fourth seeded Roberts Wesleyan College (3-4, 3-3 AMC) at 9 am on Thursday at Harvard Courts in Canton. The winners play for the championship at Walsh on Friday at 9 am, with the victor advancing to Mobile, AL for the NAIA Championships, May 12-16. Walsh has made two trips to Nationals in the last three years. Jenamarie Ianni (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is 9-7 at first singles. Megan Navarre (Sr., Indianapolis, IN/Center Grove) is 8-6 at second and third singles. Lindsey Cady (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) is 8-8 at second and third singles. This week, the Cavs open defense of their American Mideast Conference championship against Malone College (H) on Wednesday (3:30 pm). Weather permitting, it will the first match played on Walsh's new courts behind Giant Eagle at Washington Square. Jenamarie Ianni (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) has played well at first singles, but has yet to win (0-6). Lindsey Cady (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) is 0-6 at second singles. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 "Walsh University Signs Pair for Women's Tennis" Walsh University Women’s Tennis coach Sherry Bossart has announced the signing of Alison Rossi (Warren, OH/John F. Kennedy) and Barbara Lewis (Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales) to NAIA Letters of Intent. The pair will enroll at Walsh for the fall 2008 semester. The women compiled a 16-5 record, also going undefeated in the conference with a perfect 9-0 mark and capturing the AMC and NAIA Region IX Championship. Alison Rossi (Warren, OH/John F. Kennedy) will join sister Hilary Rossi as a member of the Cavalier squad. Alison earned four letters under coach and father John Rossi, playing first and second singles and first doubles. She was a two-year First Team Steel Valley Conference selection and a Silver and Gold Racquet award winner, leading her team to a Steel Valley Conference Championship in 2007. Over her four year career at John F. Kennedy High School, Alison recorded a 30-10 mark at first and second singles and a 33-10 mark at first doubles. She also earned four softball letters. Rossi also earned JFK Academic English II and Algebra II Awards and was a four year member of the honor roll. Barbara Lewis (Westerville, OH/St. Francis DeSales) makes up the second of the sister combos, joining sophomore Madeline Lewis for the 2008-2009 year. Barbara earned four letters for Head Coach Janet Wise at St. Francis DeSales High School. She was voted MVP her senior year, earning First Team All-Conference honors all four years. Playing both second and third singles, Barbara compiled a four-year record of 65-16. Her junior year, Barbara was a Division I District Qualifier and senior year was a Division I State Tournament Qualifier in doubles.
Friday, February 15, 2008 "Cavs Fall in Season Opener" Walsh (0-1) lost its season opener 8-1 to Slippery Rock University at Hall of Fame Courts today.
