Malone College (17-5) Downs Cavs (10-8) 5-3 to Advance to the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL/Webster & Innes Earn All-AMC Honors 

Malone defeated Walsh 5-3 to win the NAIA Region IX Championship and advance to the NAIA National Championships, May 12-15 in Mobile, AL.  The Malone win snaps Walsh's string of national tournament appearances at 11.  Walsh led 2-1 after winning two out of three doubles matches, but then dropped four of five singles matches.  Tim Frazier's three-set win over Curtis Kugler clinched the match for Malone.

Walsh's Stephen Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Gary Innes (Fr., Randburg, South Africa) were selected All-AMC in singles and doubles.  For Webster, it was the fourth straight year that he has received All-AMC honors.

Second seeded and defending region champion Walsh University (10-7) defeated third seeded Cedarville University (10-7) 5-4 to advance to the finals of the NAIA Region IX Championship match, to be held at Walsh, on Friday at 1 pm.  Walsh plays the winner of the Ohio Dominican University/Malone College match.  The winner advances to the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL, May 12-16.

"Cavs Set to Defend NAIA Region IX Title"

Walsh (9-7, 4-1 AMC) is the second seed for the upcoming NAIA Region IX Championships, hosted by the Cavs on Thursday and Friday.  Walsh will meet third seeded Cedarville University (10-6, 5-2 AMC) at 1 pm on Thursday.  Walsh beat the Yellow Jackets 5-4 in the regular season.  Number one seed Malone College (15-5, 5-0 AMC) meets fourth seeded Ohio Dominican University (9-6, 2-3 AMC) at Harvard Courts in Canton at 9 am on Thursday.  The winners play for the championship at Walsh on Friday at 1pm, with the victor advancing to the 57th Annual NAIA Championships in Mobile, AL, May 12-16.  Walsh has won ten of the last 11 region championships.

Number one singles Stephen Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) is 15-5 on the season and has won nine of his last ten matches.  He is 15-2 at number one doubles with Gary Innes (Fr., Randburg, South Africa).  Innes is 13-7 at third singles.  Greg Kerschbaum (Sr., Elyria, OH/HS) is 9-11 at second singles and 13-4 at second doubles with Jake Allmaras (Fr., Powell, OH/Olentangy).

"Cavs Win Fourth Straight to Finish Out Regular Season Play"

The Walsh men (9-7, 4-1) defeated the Falcons of Notre Dame College 8-1 in their final regular season conference match.  American Mideast Conference tournament play will start Thursday, May 1.

"Cavs Victorious Over Ohio Dominican; Gain Third Conference Win"

The Walsh men (8-7, 3-1) topped the Ohio Dominican Panthers 6-3 in a fierce conference match-up today at Walsh University.  The Cavaliers will finish off regular season play this Friday, April 18, at Notre Dame College.

"Cavs Sweep Roberts Wesleyan, Notch Second Conference Victory"

The Walsh men (7-7, 2-1) won their second American Mideast Conference match in a row, topping Roberts Wesleyan 9-0.  The Cavaliers will travel to West Liberty State College to take on the Hilltoppers Monday, April 14, weather permitting.

"Cavs Edge Yellow Jackets"

Walsh (6-7, 1-1 AMC) snapped a two-match losing streak with a 5-4 win over Cedarville University (5-6, 1-2 AMC) in an American Mideast Conference match today.  The Cavs won two out of three doubles matches and three singles matches.

Walsh is home to Roberts Wesleyan tomorrow.

"Rain May Move Match Indoors"

Mother nature is calling for rain, and if so, the Walsh/Cedarville match will be moved indoors to the Hall of Fame Fitness Center at 12:30 pm.  If the rain holds off, the match will be played outside at Walsh at 3 pm.

The Walsh University men's tennis team (3-5) bounced back after a two-match slide to dominate Waynesburg College 9-0 in a match played at Lexington Racquet Club.   The men will travel to the University of Findlay Sunday, March 30, to take on the Oilers.  The match is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.

"Cavs (2-5) on the Road Twice"

Walsh (2-5) is on the road twice this week, as they look to snap a two-match losing streak.  The Cavs play Waynesburg College in Lexington, OH on Friday (1:30 pm) and travel to the University of  Findlay on Sunday (3 pm.)  Walsh dropped its only match last week, falling 8-1 to Aquinas College.

Number one singles Stephen Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) is 6-4 on the season and 6-1 at number doubles with Gary Innes (Fr., Randburg, South Africa).  Innes is 4-6 at third singles.  Greg Kerschbaum (Sr., Elyria, OH/HS) is 4-6 at second singles and 5-2 at second doubles with Jake Allmaras (Fr., Powell, OH/Olentangy).

"Cavs Win Two-Day University of Charleston Invitational"

Walsh posted victories in eight of nine flights to win the University of Charleston Invitational was played Friday and today. 

Stephen Webster (Sr., Mansfield, OH/Lexington) won at first singles and at first doubles with freshman Gary Innes (Randburg, South Africa/Kings School).  Innes also won at third singles.  Greg Kerschbaum (Sr., Elyria, OH/HS) won at second singles and at second doubles with freshman Jake Allmaras (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty).  Allmaras lost at fourth singles.  Casey Eck (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) won at fifth singles and at third doubles with Matt Jeffries (Fr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Curtis Kugler (Fr., Dover, OH/HS) won at sixth singles.

"Walsh University Signs Corbin Eilander From JFK"

(North Canton, OH) Walsh University Head Men's Tennis coach Sherry Bossart has announced the signing of Corbin Eilander (Zeeland, Michigan/East Grand Rapids) to a NAIA Letter of Inent,  Eilander will enroll at Walsh fro the 2008 fall semester.  the men’s team.  In 2007, the Walsh University men’s tennis team compiled a 16-4 overall record, going a perfect 6-0 in the America Mideast Conference and capturing the AMC and NAIA Region IX Championship. 

Corbin Eilander (Zeeland, Michigan/East Grand Rapids) earned four letters for Dave Wollerman at East Grand Rapids High School.  Eilander was the individual state champion at fourth singles in spring 2007 and State Runner-Up in the fall of 2007.  In four years of play, Corbin accumulated a 99-13 record at third and fourth singles.  Eilander was also on the honor roll four straight years.

"Cavs Fall in Season Opener"

Walsh (0-1) lost 8-1 to West Virginia Wesleyan at Hall of Fame Courts today.  The Cavs are at Kenyon College next weekend.  Stephen Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) was the lone winner for the Cavs, winning at first singles.
