Bioinformatics is currently offered as an elective class and is recommended for biology and computer science majors and minors. Interested freshman must be top-tier students with a strong aptitude and serious interest in math and science. Bioinformatics applies to such fields as medicine, pharmaceuticals, genetics, nutrition, health, cancer research, disease research, forensic science, zoology, chemistry, and more.
