Tim Mead - Head Coach
The all-time winningest coach in Walsh University Soccer history, Tim Mead, begins his 29th season on the Cavs bench. Mead has an all-time record of 297-212-32. His teams have won two Mid-Ohio Conference titles and made Walsh’s only trip to the NAIA National Tournament (1993). In all, they have made 23 playoff appearances. Last season, the Cavs improved to an 11-7 overall finish and to a 6-3 American Mideast Conference finish. In 1994, the Cavs notched 17 wins, second most in school history and reached the Great Lakes Regional semi-finals. In 1993, Mead became the first Walsh soccer coach to take a team to the NAIA Championships. The Cavs won a school-record 21 games, plus a conference, district and area title.
Mead, an Andover, New York native was a two-sport star at Walsh ('81). A four-year soccer letter winner, Tim was a defensive stalwart and was named All-MOC three times and All-District 22 twice. He also earned All-Ohio and Area IV accolades. Mead also lettered on the diamond as pitcher, and was named Walsh’s Most Valuable Player and Honorable Mention All-MOC his senior year. Tim was selected to Walsh's Athletic Wall of Fame in 1983.
Mead has been Walsh’s baseball coach since 1984. His 1991 team won the school's first MOC crown and the 2000 Cavs finished 36-18 and won the regular season AMC title. Mead was honored as the AMC and ABCA/Diamond NAIA Region IX Coach of the Year. Tim also received the honor in 2004, after leading the Cavs to the North Division regular season title, with a record of 32-25. In 2007, Mead led Walsh to its first-ever appearance at the NAIA College World Series, after winning their first NAIA Region IX and Super Regional Championships.
Mead also served as Assistant Athletic Director from 1993-1998.
Mead graduated from Walsh in 1981 with his B.A. in secondary education and English. He earned his master's degree in physical education from the University of Akron in 1982.
Mead married Walsh graduate, the former Cindy Neiger in 1985. Tim and Cindy have three lovely daughters, Amanda Elizabeth (Walsh, ’09), Alexandria Mildred and Jacqueline Joanne and one son, Jacob Avery. The Meads reside in North Canton.
