Tobias Winright Speaks on 'Policing Communities'

North Canton, Ohio, April 18, 2005 - Walsh University theology professor, Dr. Tobias Winright was recently invited to speak at the Plowshares Peace Studies Collaborative of Earlham, Goshen and Manchester Colleges in Indianapolis, IN on April 14th. Winright gave a lecture entitled, "Peace through Policing in Communities and the World."

Tobias Winright is a moral theologian, ethicist, and former law enforcement officer. He speaks and writes on issues of war, peace, policing, and capital punishment. He is a member of the Ekklesia Project and speaks in Indianapolis on the issue of nonviolence in policing locally and the use of policing internationally as an alternative to military action.

The Plowshares Peace Studies Collaborative seeks to continue peacemaking traditions and create opportunities for dialogue and learning about peacemaking both nationally and internationally for students at the undergraduate level. Plowshares strengthens the academic Peace Studies programs of its institutions and creates models for others to learn from and emulate.
