Understanding Social Justice Through Children's Literature

Date(s): Feb. 2, 2012 - Feb. 2, 2012
Event Time: 7:30 p.m.

Richard Michelson presents a free lecture on "Understanding Social Justice Through Children's Literature." Michelson is the author of "Twice as Good," a new children's book that tells the story of the late William Powell, who built Clearview Golf Club, famed as the only golf course designed, built and owned by a black man. The book's illustrator, Eric Velasquez will also be on hand to sign books.

Earlier in the day, Michelson and Renee Powell, William Powell's daughter, will meet with Canton City School Children for the first public reading of "Twice as Good." Students will also tour the Walsh University campus and receive golf tips from Powell and the Walsh University golf team.

The evening lecture is open to the public and will be held at Walsh University's Barrette Business and Community Center.
