Veterans Reading Group

Date(s): Mar. 18, 2013 - Mar. 18, 2013
Event Time: 7 PM - 9 PM

The Walsh University Veterans Reading Group will meet in room BBCC 138 (Barrette Business and Community Center). The group will discuss John Borling's poetry collection, Taps on the Walls: Poems from the Hanoi Hilton. U.S. Air Force Gen. Borling composed this collection when he was a still a captain and was being held prisoner by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. Frequently tortured and denied access to writing materials during his imprisonment, Borling memorized his work and communicated it to his fellow prisoners of war through an intricate system of tapping on prison walls.

All students and community members who have served in the military, as well as members of their family, are welcome to attend the discussion. Email Dr. Ty Hawkins at thawkins@walsh.edu for more information.
