Walsh Students in St. Peter's Square to Welcome Newly Elected Pope Francis

Walsh Global Learning students studying in Rome were present among the tens of thousands of faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square on March 13 to witness the historical selection of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as newly elected Pope Francis. The Walsh University flag was seen on national and international news coverage around the world including CNN, ABC News and EWTN.

In addition, Walsh University President Richard Jusseaume and Division of Theology Chair Rev. Patrick Manning were featured in local news coverage on the election of Pope Francis.
In February, the same group of Walsh students at the University's campus in Castel Gandolfo, experienced the historic final appearance of Pope Benedict XVI at Castel Gandolfo's Central Piazza on February 28, marking the official beginning of his retirement from the Papacy.
The students along with Michael Cinson, director of student life in Italy, and Danilo Mori, Rome site director, were also interviewed by reporters from MSNBC, ABC, BBC and several worldwide news agencies in Castel Gandolfo reporting.
