Walsh University has announced the appointment of Derrick Wyman as Director of Strategic Initiatives.
In his new position, Wyman will lead efforts to forge partnerships with the Intelligent Community Forum, with regional partners for the Center for Transformative Learning, and with global partners to enhance student involvement in worldwide issues such as food production and distribution. He will also engage in regional outreach to develop initiatives that support economic development through unique partnerships.
Wyman earned a B.A. in Government and Foreign Affairs and an M.B.A. from Walsh University, and previously served as Vice President for U.S. Technology/U.S. Aircraft Corporation, Director of Public Affairs and Special Projects for Sisters of Charity Health System in Cleveland, and in various capacities at Ursuline College and Walsh University. He serves on the boards of Pathway Caring for Children and Summit Academy. In addition, he was honored in Stark County's first "Twenty Under 40" cohort, and has been active in many political and philanthropic campaigns.
Walsh President Richard Jusseaume called Wyman's appointment "... a giant step forward as Walsh integrates itself into regional and global efforts to improve the livelihood of all."
"As a Walsh alumnus, joining the University staff full-time is a homecoming of sorts for me," Wyman said. "I look forward to helping shape the future of this Catholic University and seeking opportunities for continued growth."
