WALSH UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS RECEIVE
NOCHE CELEBRATION OF TEACHING AWARD
Noted for dedication to excellence in teaching
North Canton, Ohio, September 30, 2005 - Walsh University recently announced that three of its faculty were recipients of the 2005 Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education (NOCHE) Celebration of Teaching Award.
Kathleen M. Buttermore, M.A., Associate Professor Language and Letters, Director of the Writing Center; Cynthia Wise Staudt, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Language and Letters and Division Chair and Frank P. Vazzano, Ph.D., Professor of History were selected from the more than 9,000 full and part-time faculty members in the NOCHE region's 24 colleges and universities.
"The list of 2005 honorees makes clear that great teaching is delivered in multiple forms," says Charles Hickman, NOCHE executive director. "Charismatic lectures, introduction of simulations and field study programs that give students 'hands-on' learning opportunities, creative use of new learning technologies, and providing extraordinary access to students outside the classroom for academic advice and counseling are among the ways that these faculty members enhance learning at our member institutions," Hickman said.
Walsh's Buttermore, Staudt and Vazzano, along with 53 other award recipients from NOCHE schools, will be honored on October 7 during a luncheon hosted by NOCHE and held at the student union at The University of Akron.
