North Canton, Ohio - Walsh University faculty members were recently nominated for the Northeast Ohio Council On Higher Education Award for Teaching Excellence (NOCHE). Professors John G. Trapani, Joseph Ezzie and Linda Barclay received the award Friday, October 1, 2004 at a luncheon at the Professional Education and Conference Center on Kent State University's Stark Campus. 

The NOCHE Award praises the enthusiasm, vision and passion of faculty across 23 campuses. Honorees are recognized for their leadership in their field, initiative to broaden their students through study abroad programs; development of online courses, new degree programs, the introduction of new teaching methods and supporting co-curricular activities that allow students to apply what they have learned.

Dr. John Trapani is a Professor of Philosophy and Chair of Walsh University's Humanities Division. He holds a B.A. from Boston College and earned his Ph.D. at St. John's University. A two-time winner of Walsh University's Educator of the Year Award, Trapani joined Walsh in 1974.

Joseph Ezzie is a Professor of Business and Economics at Walsh University. He holds a B.A. from Walsh (1969) and an M.A. from The Catholic University of America. A model student, Ezzie joined the ranks of Walsh's faculty in 1969 and is a four-time winner of Walsh's Educator of the Year Award.

Dr. Linda Barclay is a Professor of Psychology/Counseling and Human Development and Director of the Counseling and Human Development Graduate Studies Program at Walsh University. She has a M.A. from Syracuse University, M.A. from Walsh University, Ph.D. from Indiana University and a Ph.D. from The Union Institute and University. She joined Walsh in 1984 and is the chapter advisor for Walsh's honorary counseling society, The Alpha Mu Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. She has been honored as Walsh University's Faculty Scholar two times (2000 and 2003) and is currently completing background research for a book under contract with Lahaska Press.
