Whetstine Leslie

Dr. Leslie M. Whetstine is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Walsh University. She joined Walsh in the Summer of 2007. She holds a BA in Philosophy and an MA and Ph.D. in Bioethics from Duquesne University.

Dr. Whetstine is experienced in both academic and clinical bioethics.  She serves on the Ethics Committee at Aultman Hospital and lectures at the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy. She speaks at home and abroad on ethical issues in transplantation, the definition of death, and end-of-life care.  Her research interests are in expanding the work she conducted in her dissertation, "An Examination of the Biophilosophical Literature on the Definition and Criteria of Death: When is Dead 'Dead' And Why Some Donation After Cardiac Death Donors Are Not."

Currently Dr. Whetstine teaches Introduction to Philosophy, Moral Philosophy, and Bioethics.  She anticipates expanding the Philosophy curriculum to include additional course offerings in the developing field of bioethics.  She can be reached at 330.244.4697.
