To underscore the importance of the national Right to Life movement and in an effort to provide the opportunity for participation, Walsh University was closed in observance of the March for Life on Friday, January 29.
While not able to travel to Washington, D.C., Walsh's Campus Ministry, Cavs for Life student organization and members of Cav Nation participated in a local pilgrimage that included a visit to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Windsor, OH, for a rosary and reflection given by Walsh’s new Associate Chaplin Fr. Louis Bertrand Lemoine, O.P. The Pilgrimage was followed by the Holy Mass Celebration of Holy Mass at St. Columba Cathedral with Most Reverend David J. Bonnar Sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown.
The day concluded with a walk and prayerful witness at the federal building in downtown Youngstown, OH, where several Walsh students gave personal witness about their devotion to the pro-life cause. In total, more than 60 faculty, staff and students participated in the Right to Life pilgrimage. The group was prominently featured on WKBN Youngstown TV coverage.
