SAA Student Bios

PRESIDENT

Michaela Rogers ’19, Nursing

Michaela is a junior nursing student here at Walsh. She is a part of the Blouin Global Scholars Program and will have the opportunity to travel to Rome and Uganda. She is also active in Campus Ministry and hopes to pursue a career in nursing in this area upon graduation.

VICE PRESIDENT

Chris Himmelman ’18, Marketing

Chris is a senior marketing major with a minor in actuarial science. He currently works in the Career Center, in charge of creating all marketing, as well being a part of the University Programming Board, Student Government, and DeVille School of Business Student Advisory Board. Chris also currently interns in the Alumni Office as Marketing and Events Intern. Chris plans on graduating in the spring of 2018 and beginning his career at American Greetings in Westlake, Ohio.

SECRETARY
Tiffani Hickman ’18, Nursing

Tiffani is a senior nursing student here at Walsh. She works in the Academic Support Center, at the David Center Reception Desk as well as being a part of the Chorale. Tiffani has had the opportunity to travel to Tanzania with the nursing program and hopes to travel upon graduation. Tiffani also hopes to find a nursing job and eventually go back to school to become a Nursing Professor.

Andrew Lawton ’19, Finance 

Andrew is junior finance major here at Walsh. He is on the lacrosse team and is seeking an internship in the Akron/Canton area. Andrew enjoys spending time with friends and family while focusing on lacrosse and his education. Upon graduation he hopes to continue his education at the graduate level.

WUSG REPRESENTITIVE
Andy Zmecek ’20 Education, Theology, Philosophy

Andy is a sophomore from Cleveland majoring in Education, Theology, and Philosophy. He is Cavalier Guide, giving tours to prospective students and their families, and works in the Career Readiness and Development Center. Additionally, he is a Blouin Leader for Social Justice. Andy is looking at getting his masters in Theology at Walsh, and then going to Cleveland's Borromeo / St. Mary's Seminary.

AMBASSADORS
Tyler Bare ’18, Nursing 

Tyler is a senior nursing major and is pursuing medical school this coming year. He is involved in many leadership positions in the community such as Canton City Mentors, Blouin Global Scholars, and is a part of the Nursing Club, Pre-Healthcare club, and Science Club. Over the past two years, Tyler has been given the opportunity to study abroad in several countries in Europe and Africa. He hopes to acquire a medical education after graduation and is always interested in research opportunities.

Amy Gilmore ’18 Philosophy, Pre-Law

Amy is a senior philosophy/ government and foreign affairs major with a minor in Spanish. She works in the Academic Support Center as well as being in Soccer, Student Government, Lean-in, Dead Philosopher’s Society, an orientation leader and a Blouin Global Scholar. She is currently seeking an internship with a non-profit organization and hopes to continue her education at the graduate level.

Samantha Grochowski ’18, Nursing 

Samantha is a senior nursing major here at Walsh. She is part of Nursing Club, SAA, and has traveled to Tanzania and Italy with the Br. Francis Blouin Global Scholars Program. She currently works at Akron Children’s Hospital as a nurse tech. She hopes to continue her education at the graduate level and continue volunteering and giving back to the community.

Nick Liszka ’19 Biology, Pre-Veterinary 

Nick is a junior biology major here at Walsh. He is a Residant Assistant in Alexis Hall and part of the Blouin Global Scholars program, through which he had the opportunity to meet the Brothers of Christian Instruction while visiting in Maine. He is currently seeking an internship involving veterinary medicine and hopes to continue his degree at a graduate level.

Katie Paul ’18, Philosophy/ Psychology 

Katie is a senior philosophy (applied ethics) and psychology (research) major along with having a minor in peace studies. She works at the reception desk on campus as well as being a Blouin Global Scholar and Campus Ambassador. She is also involved in Dead Philosopher’s Society, Campus Ministry, and CRUX. She wants to pursue a career in Bioethics and is seeking an internship in the same field. Katie hopes to continue her education with a masters and doctorate in Bioethics.

Meghan Skrypka ’19, Environmental Science

Meghan is a junior Environmental Science major at Walsh, with a minor in Government and Foreign Affairs. She works with Walsh Phone-a-thon, and is a part of the Blouin Global Scholars Program, the Women's Lacrosse team, Sigma Zeta Science and Mathematics National Honor Society, and Student Government here at Walsh. Meghan is seeking an internship involving Environmental Science or Sustainable Agriculture, and hopes to continue her education at the graduate level.

Alex Branham ’20, Accounting

Alex is a sophomore accounting major here at Walsh. He is a part of the Blouin Global Scholars program and will have the opportunity to travel to Tanzania and Rome. He is also active in Agape Latte, the Brotherhood, and the Campus Ambassador program. Alex hopes to become part of an internship in the non-profit field or the credit card fraud industry and potentially continue his career at the graduate level.

Monica Holliday ’20 Government and Foreign Affairs, Philosophy

Monica is a sophomore government and foreign affairs and philosophy double major. She is a part of Dance Marathon, Dead Philosophers Society, Fiat and Campus Ministry. Monica hopes to find an internship in a law office for the duration of her college career. After graduation, she plans to continue her education at Law school.
