Dr. Brian Greenwell was appointed as Walsh University’s Vice President for Administration and Chief Information Officer on July 1, 2015.

Dr. Greenwell brings more than 30 years of experience to this position and has served the University since 2009 in multiple positions including Director of Infrastructure and Customer Service Center Manager.

In this position, Dr. Greenwell is responsible for the Information Technology strategy of the University, management of IT resources, support of eLearning programming, the cyber and physical security of Walsh’s campus, construction projects, and maintenance of buildings and grounds. In addition, Dr. Greenwell directs the operation of the Information Technology Department, which includes infrastructure, applications, customer support, telecommunications and technical services, physical plant, and capital projects.

Among his many accomplishments, Greenwell took the lead role in the strategic planning and architectural design of Walsh’s newest academic learning center, the Marlene and Joe Toot Global Learning Center. The building earned industry recognition when it was honored with the Award of Excellence for Mixed Use Architectural Design of the Year by the Northeast Ohio NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association for its innovative design by the architectural firm Richard L. Bowen + Associates.

He joined Walsh from Jasmine Jade Enterprises in Akron, OH, where he served three years as the Vice President/Director of Information Technology and was responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure, which included IP telephony and Ecommerce. Prior to Jasmine Jade, Greenwell held various positions during his 17 years with Severn Trent Laboratories in North Canton, OH, including analytical chemist, mobile lab coordinator, LAN Administrator/Manager of Programs and Systems, and project manager.

Dr. Greenwell is also an associate professor of computer science, where he teaches students in web programming, computer networking, and cybersecurity. He serves on various committees on campus and was the past president of the Ohio Independent Nonprofit College and University Chief Information Officers group.

Dr. Greenwell earned a Bachelor of Science in Geological Oceanography from the Florida Institute of Technology, Master of Science in Geochemistry from The University of Toledo and Doctor of Business Administration and Management from Walden University.
