Discover Freshman Retreat

Facebook Google+ Twitter Linked In Email this page Print this page

Discover… is a non-denominational retreat designed specifically for the freshman class. It usually takes place in February of the academic year and goes from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.

The event is held at a location off campus in order to give you a weekend away from Walsh University so that you are able to focus on nothing but the scheduled activities.

As a freshman, you are asked to have an open-mind when coming on this retreat. In doing so, you will not only become closer with the friends you already have, but you will also make new, lifelong friends. This experience will challenge you to reflect on the changes in your life that have taken place since beginning your journey at Walsh.

Retreat application information will be distributed starting in November through early January.

"I attended the Discover Freshman Retreat back in 2008 and I have been involved with it ever since. The experiences that occur during that weekend are unlike any others. I continue to remain friends with those that I met during the retreat, many of whom are my best friends at Walsh University. It really is a must-attend event for all freshmen students."

Leaders

Retreat leaders chosen through an anonymous application process beginning in November of the academic year. Core team members should show dedication, character, guidance, and integrity. The leadership team usually consists of 10-15 Walsh University upperclassmen. Once the team leaders are chosen, they will work together to help design and plan activities to be implemented throughout the Discover… weekend. Each team member brings a unique asset to the group and should be comfortable with themselves to make the retreat a success for the participants.

Application information is distributed in November.
