Programs build on Walsh's liberal arts core curriculum with an emphasis on effective oral, written and digital communication.

Perhaps you want to explore working internationally, or with a domestic company that has global partners. In all of these cases, a major or minor in languages or communication can provide the foundation.

In the liberal arts tradition, the Walsh University Division of Literature, Language & Communication stresses critical thinking with an emphasis on the significance of language, literature and writing, along with required proficiency in digital media. With this as the basis for instruction, we weave in critical skills for today's careers.

Division Highlights

We offer majors in the following areas of study:

  • Communication - A flexible, pre-professional program designed to allow students to pursue their interest in four tracks: Advertising & Public Relations, Broadcast Communication, Digital Media and Print Journalism.
  • Corporate Communication- Designed to prepare students to work as communication professionals in a business setting. The curriculum includes a mixture of communication and business courses, which stress both practical skills and a critical understanding of the role of communication in the business environment.
  • Graphic Design - Pre-professional program that works to prepare our students to pursue careers in visual communication design professions.
  • Professional Writing -  Focuses not only on writing for digital communications but also the ability to research and evaluate the legitimacy of online information.

Educational and Experiential Opportunities

We provide an experienced faculty and a mentoring environment, both inside and outside of the classroom. Extra-curricular programs, clubs, internships and work experiences round out our course of study.
