Walsh University has appointed Elizabeth Erickson as Admissions Counselor/Campus Minister.
As Admissions Counselor, Erickson will assist in planning and organizing recruitment programs for students from high schools recognized by the Cardinal Newman Society, working with school administrators and students. In addition, Erickson will concentrate on building relationships with homeschooled organizations, families and communities, as well as coordinate retention strategies to assist with the transition to college for homeschooled students. She will act as a liaison with Campus Ministry and Youth Ministry programs in designated areas to help build awareness of Walsh University. Her student recruitment efforts will also include assigned territories in Medina and Trumbull Counties in Ohio where she will conduct high schools visits, attend college fairs and other outreach events. Other responsibilities include serving as a liaison to the Office of Campus Ministry.
In addition to her duties as Admissions Counselor, Erickson will also serve Walsh University as a Campus Minister where she will assist in the facilitation of programs geared towards faith formation, spiritual practices, community service, community building, and leadership development on campus. The Office of Campus Ministry addresses the personal, spiritual, and religious needs of students, faculty, staff, and alumni by offering a variety of services.
Elizabeth Erickson brings 11 years of experience in volunteer coordination, management of youth ministry programs and the fostering of religious formation. For more than 10 years, she has provided in-depth formation in the Christian life for young people by serving as a volunteer coordinator/promoter for Eagle Eye Ministries, in Laredo, TX, which is a ministry of the Community of St. Jean, a religious order founded in France. As an Eagle Eye Ministries volunteer, Erickson completed a month-long formation program in evangelization, prayer and community life, led teens on adventure expeditions and leadership trips, and organized summer campus for 40+ teens.
Her youth ministry experience also includes three years from 2004-2006 as Volunteer Youth Minister at Northern Illinois University, where she organized and promoted student-led retreats, led bible study and prayer groups for university and high school students, and facilitated various volunteer opportunities. She joins Walsh from Delta Airlines in Chicago, IL, where she worked as a Gate Agent from 2012 to 2014. Her experience also includes Health and Nutrition Consultant for AdvoCare International and Jr. Project Manager for Novak Construction in Chicago, from 2008 to 2012.
Erickson earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from National Louis University.
