Both the Walsh men's and women's basketball teams earned an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division II National Tournament after winning the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday, March 9.
The women's basketball team lit up Alumni Arena, as they defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 84-68 for the G-MAC championship. The Cavaliers earned their first conference championship since becoming an NCAA Division II school. Walsh is now 25-6 on the season, which is also the most wins earned since joining NCAA Division II.
The Walsh University Women’s Basketball team was awarded the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional and will face Lewis University on Friday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m., to open the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament.
The Walsh men's basketball had to use five extra minutes to wear down the sixth ranked Findlay Oilers in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament final on Saturday, March 9. The Cavaliers defeated the Oilers 58-52 in overtime for their 13th straight win and first tournament title since joining Division II.
The Walsh Men’s Basketball team was also awarded a No. 7 seed in the Midwest Regional and will face Ballarmine University on Saturday, March 16, at 3:30 p.m. to open the Men’s NCAA Division II Basketball Championship Tournament.
