With a more than 50-year connection to Walsh University, and his perspective as a former student, Dean of Students, member of the Walsh Board of Directors and President, Richard Jusseaume gave his last lecture to the final class of seniors to graduate under his tenure. During the April 25 special event hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations, the senior class of 2019 also took time to honor the retiring President with a special resolution from the Walsh University student body, presented by the University’s Student Government.

"The Walsh University Student Government wishes to thank President Jusseaume for his dedication to the student body and the University as a whole. And whereas the Student Government wants to honor the work and tenure of President Richard Jusseaume by contributing to a project that reflects his dedication to students and our Catholic faith," said Brad Caston, President of Student Government during the resolution presentation to President Jusseaume. "Therefore, be it resolved that Walsh University Student Government allocates an amount of $2,019 to reflect the year of this resolution and the year of the President’s announced retirement; and be it resolved that the $2,019 donation be directed toward the Statue of St. Thomas Aquinas, the patron saint of students, to be raised on the Walsh campus and dedicated to President Richard Jusseaume."

In addition to the Class of 2019, special guests included members of the Walsh Board of Directors, the Jusseaume family, alumni and Walsh faculty/staff members.

In 2007, Randy Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Mellon, offered his last lecture that inspired not only the university community, but many throughout the entire world and was later published in a New York Times best-selling book "The Last Lecture." The annual senior dinner provides an opportunity for invited "lecturers" to reflect on their life journey, share lessons learned and share their most notable moments as prominent members of the Walsh community.

Additional coverage of President Jusseaume’s Last Lecture will be highlighted in a special edition of the June 2019 Walsh Times.
