Tiffany Kinnard-Payton Named Assistant Dean of Students

Walsh University has announced the appointment of Tiffany Kinnard-Payton as Assistant Dean of Students. Since 2015, Kinnard-Payton has served as Walsh’s Director of Residence Life. 

Kinnard-Payton will continue in her role as the Chief Housing Officer (CHO), and will assume the position of Title IX Coordinator in September. As the CHO, she will continue to report to the Dean of Students Bryan Badar. In her Title IX role, she will report directly to Vice President for Student Affairs Amy Malaska. 

Tiffany Kinnard-Payton brings more than 12 years of expertise in student affairs and residential life programming and initiatives to this position. She began her career at Walsh University in 2006 as the Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs and as the Office Coordinator for the Academic Support Center. In 2008, she moved to the Residence Life department and was named Hall Director and then the Coordinator of Residential Administrative Services/Hall Director. In 2012, she became the Coordinator of Residential Programming and Leadership for Residence Life, before her appointment as Associate Director of Residence Life later that same year. In 2015, Kinnard-Payton was promoted to Director of Residence Life. 

In addition to teaching the first year extended orientation course for the past 12 years, Kinnard-Payton has served as a Student Conduct Hearing officer and a member of the Student Life Judicial Board since 2008.  Further, she has a long history of extensive campus service and leadership, along with engagement in our greater community. Among her accomplishments, Kinnard-Payton was a Founder of Walsh’s College Woman Rock Initiative in 2012 and founding member of the Walsh’s Women’s Empowerment Initiative in 2014.  Tiffany currently serves as an ASL Interpreter and Youth Minister with the Emmanuel Tabernacle Family Worship Center. She was nominated for the Walsh University Terrance Portis Mentor of the Year Award twice (2016 and 2018), and received the Education Award for the Stark County Woman of Worth Awards in 2016.

Tiffany Kinnard-Payton earned her B.A. in Sociology, Criminal Justice/Psychology and her M.A. in Counseling and Human Development, School Counseling both from Walsh University. She is currently pursuing her Interdisciplinary Ed.D. in Leadership through Creighton University.
