Third Annual Contest Attracts Entries from 16 States,
Marks Dramatic Increase from 2014
Walsh University is pleased to announce that Sarah Schaefer from St. James Academy in Overland Park, Kansas, is the winner of the Third Annual Catholic Schools Week Photo Contest.
As the winning photographer, Sarah and her school will each be presented with a $500 check from Walsh University. In addition, Schaefer’s photo will be featured in the Walsh University 2016 marketing campaign celebrating Catholic Schools Week.
In total, Walsh received nearly 300 entries from 16 states including Kansas, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. This year’s contest marked a dramatic increase in the number of states represented, from seven states in 2014 to 16 states in 2015.
Two runners-up received a $250 prize each, with second place awarded to Elizabeth Janowski of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Syed Rahman of Scarsdale, New York.
The three winners were selected by a panel of judges for their photos submissions that best embraced the spirit of the 2015 Catholic Schools Week theme "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service."
