Walsh University has appointed Abigail Poeske as Director of Service Learning. In her new position, Poeske will be responsible for facilitating mutually beneficial service opportunities between Walsh and the community as an educational tool in the advancement of course learning outcomes and student development. These hands-on learning projects foster civic responsibility and support the Walsh University mission to educate students to become leaders in service to others through a values-based education.
Poeske brings to this position more than five years of experience nationally and internationally in community outreach, student development and experiential learning-based program coordination. She previously served as Walsh’s Director of Student Life at the University’s campus in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, where she was responsible for the management of student-centered activities at the Rome campus and within the Italian community.
"I’m excited to have Abby joining the team," said Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning Rachel Hosler. "She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help us further our experiential learning opportunities for students."
Poeske joined Walsh from The University of North Carolina, where she held the position of Program Assistant for the Honors Semester Program in Cape Town, South Africa. Her past experience also includes positions with Chernivtsi National University in Ukraine, serving the Fulbright Program as an English Teaching Assistant. She began her career as the Development Associate with Boston Children’s Hospital Trust in Boston, MA.
She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree from Walsh University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she was awarded the Buckley Public Service Scholar Award for Community Service and Academic Honors.
