Walsh University Appoints Gabe Gonzalez as Admissions Counselor

Walsh University has appointed Gabe Gonzalez as Admissions Counselor responsible for the planning and organizing recruitment programs for prospective minority and international students. His recruitment territory will also include the western United States, as well as Ohio public schools in Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Youngstown. In addition, Gonzalez will serve as a liaison to the Office of Multicultural Programs and International Services.

Originally from Elizabeth, New Jersey, Gonzalez is fluent in Spanish and brings extensive experience working with individuals of various cultural backgrounds and economic circumstances to his new position at Walsh.

He joins the University from Pastoral Counseling Services in Akron, OH, where he helped to facilitate services primarily offered as school base therapy to Akron Public Schools grades K-12. From 2009 to 2011, Gonzalez was a member of the Admissions staff at Sanford Brown College in Cleveland, where his responsibilities included conducting personal student interviews, acting as a liaison between the school and perspective students, and assessing whether applicants were strong candidates for their chosen programs within the College. Prior to Sanford Brown, he also served as a Resident Supervisor for Oriana House, Inc., in Akron, OH, from 2008 to 2009.

Gonzalez earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from The University of Akron.
