Walsh University has announced the appointment of Michael Cinson as Director of Global Learning, effective July 1. Cinson has previously served as Walsh University’s Rome Campus Director of Student Life since 2012.

In his new role, Cinson will be responsible for all international program offerings for Walsh University. He will supervise risk and crisis management for all University educational experiences abroad and will lead the development of new opportunities for the Global Learning Office. In addition, Cinson will manage Walsh University’s efforts to grow the Rome program by establishing service-learning and internships opportunities.

"I’m excited for Mike to take on a larger leadership role with the Office of Global Learning," said Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning Rachel Hosler. "His experience in coordinating a successful student experience on our Rome Campus will be a significant asset as we develop new international programs that promote an intercultural learning experience for Walsh University students."

Inspired by the example of global citizenship of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, the Office of Global Learning provides opportunities for students to develop into leaders in service with an international perspective. The Office of Global Learning mission is to increase global connections through varied programs in multiple destinations throughout the world - and to bring more connections to the Walsh campus.

As Director of Student Life assigned to Walsh’s Campus in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, Cinson worked in close collaboration with the Rome Site Director to provide a values-based and transformative study abroad experience that also reflected Walsh’s overall mission and goals. He worked closely with the University’s Director of Global Learning, administration and faculty members to facilitate academic programming, student housing and cultural activities. He actively monitored and cared for the needs of Walsh students as they adjusted to daily life abroad and served as the Rome Campus chief student conduct officer.

Cinson joined Walsh in 2007 as Residence Hall Director and was appointed Coordinator of Residence Education in 2010. He is a graduate of Walsh, having earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2005 and his Master of Science in Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 2007.
