On completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • explain the definition and usage of the term “Internet of Things” in the context of your industry and future trends
  • understand the key components that make up an IoT system
  • find and use simple IoT concepts and tools to improve business efficiency and profitability in your job
  • create and present key ideas for using IoT in your business setting
  • work collaboratively with teams to create solutions to complex problems relevant to improving business success
  • understand data sources and formats
  • understand and visualize data for better decision making
  • comprehend data foundations for analytics
  • identify how to collect, store and analyze relevant data to measure success
  • appreciate the role of big data, cloud computing and data analytics in a typical IoT system

Certificates, Assessment and Next Steps

  • You will take a pre-course personal inventory to help instructors measure current level of experience and perceived expertise in key areas of learning.
  • A performance assessment rubric with scored performance criteria and details about performance will be provided for feedback and to help guide improvement.
  • If you complete the course and assessment, you will receive a certificate of completion.
  • You can take this course as a standalone (one-off) course/module, or accumulate it towards additional certification programs.
  • Depending on your area of interest, the program is designed to layer with additional courses providing a more detailed study of the technical, data analytics, business application and security aspects of IoT.
